Spex Pistols, Dundee

Portfolio Description

Spex Pistols is an optical boutique (and established social micro-hub) in Dundee’s vibrant West Port area.  The shop is polychromatic, curious, vintage and cosy.  With a refresh and remodel planned for 2018, the shopfront itself was to be tidied and refinished with new external feature lighting, and the main internal display areas were to get new cabinets with display lighting.

Externally, we assessed the existing services clutter to the shopfront and instructed the removal and relocation of items to realise a cleaned up ‘canvas’ for redecoration.  Wires and cables, light fittings, and alarm boxes were stripped or relocated.  New shopfront lighting concepts were assessed and a preferred scheme was specified for festoon lighting to the upper sill above the window display.

Internally, we specified low-profile LED strip lighting to be installed integral to the new display cabinets.  The warm white colour temperature for the display scheme was preferred to not only match the colour range of regular product displays but also to align with the wider interior colour scheme.

Our attention to detail on the final positioning of equipment across this project was greatly appreciated by our client and has resulted in an attractive and vastly improved impression for store staff and customers.
