Brent Bravo Attic Oil Removal

The Attic Oil Removal (AOR) project on Shell’s Brent Bravo platform in the East Shetland basin of the North Sea was an essential step in the facility’s decommissioning plan.  Following a successful demonstration of their innovative AOR technology on the Brent Delta platform in 2015, Enpro Subsea from Westhill were tasked with a repeat project for the Brent Bravo platform in 2018.

As part of their pre-mobilisation work, the Enpro Subsea team had an extensive programme of equipment retooling, modification and inspection.  Our involvement with the project was to detail the modification of the control cabin systems and the internal and external cabled interconnections to suit the Brent Bravo equipment mobilisation.

Our technical scope for this project included:

  • electrical equipment load review
  • definition of electrical, control and alarm equipment destruct and mothballing workscopes
  • new alarm and control panel schematic design and specification
  • cabling interconnection diagrams and schedules
  • briefing and co-ordination of electrical and controls installation contractor
  • commissioning procedure for the modified control cabin and hook-up
  • equipment change-out procedure for a new linear actuator drive
  • inspection of installations
  • commissioning supervision
  • as-built drawing work
  • technical addendum for Control Cabin Manufacturer Data Book
